Happy Teachers Day. The birth date of the second President of India, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, 5 September 1888, has been celebrated as Teacher’s Day since 1962. On this day, teachers and students report to school as usual but the usual activities and classes are replaced by activities of celebration, thanks and remembrance. In some schools, senior students take the responsibility of teaching in order to show their appreciation for the teachers.
India’s second President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a great scholar and favourite teacher of his students. One day his students came and seek his permission to celebrate his birthday. Instead of celebrating his birthday, he suggested students celebrate his birthday as Teacher’s Day in respect of all teachers. Since then, September 5th is observed as Teacher’s Day in India every year.
Teachers Day Speech in English
Good morning to all the respected teachers and my dear all friends.
The light of the world, the beacon in the dark and the hope that gives us strength to survive, is our teacher. Today we celebrate Teachers’ Day. A day, kept aside to honour the gifted souls who work everyday to make sure that the future is bright for all of us. Let us welcome all the teachers with a big round of applause.
On this beautiful occasion, let us take the opportunity to convey our respect and heartiest love to all our teachers, who have given impeccable contribution in shaping us. Our best wishes for them in this auspicious day.
Every year 5th of September, we celebrate Teachers Day. It is a day filled with lots of excitement, joy and happiness as students are eagerly waiting for this day and looking forward to tell their teachers how and why are they so special to them. It is my honour to talk about our dearest teachers on this wonderful occasion.
September 5th is marked by the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Along with being a successful leader in the form of the President of the Country, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a great scholar and an excellent teacher.
It would not be wrong to say that teachers are equal to our parents. They teach us selflessly and treat us as their own children. Parents give birth to a child, while teachers shape the personality of that child and they constantly try to help a child evolve into a good human being.
Teachers are the source of inspiration
Hence we should always respect and love them. Teachers are the source of inspiration. They motivate us, nourish our young minds with knowledge, give us the strength and prepare us to face the obstacles or challenges in life.
Teachers are, therefore, a blessing for us in many ways. Let us take a pledge today to always respect our teachers, obey them, and follow their advice to be worthy citizens. On this day, I want to thank all my teachers for guiding me whenever I needed them.
All the students present here are grateful to all of you. We promise to make you proud near future and never ever forget your effort to motivate us every day.
